Yesterday, I was trying to download several document images (.jpg
format) from Ancestry.com and every one got an error - something like
"couldn't save the file, Unknown error." I assumed it was a problem on
their site.
Today, I tried to download a PDF statement and got the same error
message. The files saved OK the 2nd time in all cases.
I had not encountered this with the previous versions of Firefox.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance :)

The actual error message is:
DOWNLOAD ERROR
The download cannot be saved because an unknown error occurred.
Please try again later.

It happened on a 3rd site when I was trying to download software. On
the 2nd attempt, it downloaded successfully.

Ralph,
Thanks :) I tried the first one yesterday. No change. Tried
resetting all sorts of things - no change, still wouldn't save properly
the first time.
Today, the problem has not happened and I've saved a bunch of files.

Did you close and restart FF after you made yesterday's changes. With
some changes I have even restarted the computer before the changes took
effect.
