won't install add ons

After upgrading the last 2 times, running 2.0.0.9 now, I have not been
able to install google toolbar for firefox. I thought that was all
that was effected then when I tried to install updates for other
extensions I got a similar error. The error is an unexpected
installation error, & it tells me to see error console.

I'm really getting all kinds of errors & problems with these last 2
updates.

Running vista business, if that helps. Not sure what else you need.

Not wanting to uninstall & reinstall & loose bookmarks.

Installation/re-installation have nothing to do with bookmarks;
bookmarks, extensions, themes, and lots of other things are found in the
profile, not in the installation folders:
