My Arch Linux laptop used to Fcitx input method works fine with Firefox. but now, after upgrade, it does not work. (This means my old configuration is fine, right?) Fcitx still works fine in other programs like KDE terminal konsole, Emacs, Kate, even Google Chrome.

I googled, and tried solutions mentioned in Google results.

Does anybody knows how to fix this? or any hints to debug this to find out what wrong with it?

A 3-year old FreeBSD forum post, offered by DuckDuckGo but maybe missed
by Google, says

"I use fcitx-mozc for Japanese input. I have a few variables set in my
..xinitrc that work for every program save firefox."

"I can work around it starting Firefox with LC_CTYPE=ja_JP.UTF-8 firefox."

It's Greek to me.
