I can no longer copy graphics with Firefox. It started a few weeks ago, and I thought some of the websites/blogs I visited had a new software that wouldn't allow the copying of graphics. When I visited a website where I had copied many articles/graphics and the same thing happened, I contacted the webmaster. She/he asked which browser I was using. It hadn't occurred to me to try IE, since I never use it. However, I opened IE and have no problems copying graphics with it.

Do I have a damaged file? Should I delete Firefox and reinstall?

The first thing you should try is "Help>Restart with Add-ons
Disabled...", and see if it can copy graphics on restart. If it can,
that is pointing to a potential conflict with an add-on you might have
installed.

Thank you for responding. Unfortunately, your suggestion didn't work. Instead of the graphic, I got the URL for that graphic, which was what I was getting before.

I realized, after I sent my original plea for help, that I should have included more information.

Starting in late January/early February, Firefox started slowing down and by March it was crawling verrrrry slowly. One of the Mozilla help pages directed me to a company called Uniblue. I decided to try it. After payment, I downloaded and ran it. After a few days, Firefox was back to its original speed.

I've generally stayed away from programs that delete files, etc., because I'm not that computer literate. I just have a feeling, though, because of the timing, that a file or program has been deleted that shouldn't have been.

Any thoughts???

Just to point out, because something is on the Internet doesn't mean you
can freely copy content. I don't know what you're using the copied
graphics and articles for, but if you put it on your own website you're
surely violate the copyright.

I'm writing this because it seems unusual to me to copy "many" articles
and graphics. When I find an interesting article, I just bookmark it...

I'm a strong believer in copyright, and the things I copy are strictly for my own use. I have neither a website nor a blog.

I was on dial-up until fairly recently, and I don't always remember I can just go online whenever I want without the hassle of dialup.

I've been getting that too in Kubuntu but only on some sites (er, no, I
haven't kept a record of 'problem' sites).

Tedious Work-around:
Right-click on the page background (not on an image) and select 'View
Page Info'. If have difficulty with finding a suitable place to click,
go to the Menu bar and select Tools->Page Info. In the Page Info dialog
select the 'Media' page and run through the list until you find the
image of interest then hit the 'Save As' button.

Then, one day, you find that it is no longer there.

Of course, it might have been moved within a site, or the site may have
changed domains -- but, although you can recall how the site is useful,
you may not recall enough detail to help much with a Google search.

One needs to keep a full private local copy, together with the URL and
date, in addition to any bookmarking.

Personally, I do not rely on bookmarks. I have a local home page, in
HTML, into which I edit links I want to re-use long-term. And that
works in much the same way in all of my five browsers.

I should have refreshed my memory before posting that. :)

Less tedious work-around:
Right-click on the image, select 'View Image Info'. The Page Info
dialog pops-up with the image ready selected, hit 'Save As'.

Or even less tedious than that:
Right-click on the image, select 'Save Image As...' A save dialog
appears. Pick the storage location.

These tips, of course, depend on the page author not concealing the image
behind a transparent <div>, where the right-click is rendered useless.
I've seen some pages where the entire page of content was so covered.
Marsha also said can't copy "graphics." If that graphic is a streaming
movie, then it becomes a different ball game.

Thank you, everyone for the helpful suggestions. I suspect my idea about Uniblue being the culprit is accurate.

Yesterday, when I opened FF, it updated me to FF 13.0. Out of curiosity, I right-clicked on the first graphic
I saw and...it copied and pasted it to a document I had open. I haven't run Uniblue, and am not too sure
I will again. If any of you have any ideas on this, please contact me directly since I'm not sure this subject
belongs in this forum.

Again, thanks for your help

Marsha
PS: Everything I wrote above "Again, thanks for your help" was going all the way across the screen and I
didn''t know how to fix it, so I just put in hard returns. Sorry!
