FF 2.0.0.15 on WinXP+SP2
Sometime in the past few days,
the add-on "Uppity" disappeared from my FF toolbar.
I didn't immediately deal with it because it is not crucial.
I figured it would come back the next time I restarted FF, or rebooted.
This afternoon, XP hung -- just got slower and slower
and finally didn't respond at all. So I restarted the machine.
When I restarted FF, Uppity was still not there.
Yet when I pulled down Tools -> Add-ons, it was in the list.
The [Options] buttons does nothing.
All I could do was disable it or uninstall it.
I chose the latter.
I then went to the Uppity page of addons.mozilla.org,
and clicked on [Add to Firefox].
It went through the motions, but shortly gave me an error something like
Firefox could not install the file at
http://releases.mozilla.org/.../<something>.xpi
because: Unexpected installation error

I looked at the log, Too Much Information.
Clicked [Clear], tried again. Got these:

I say "add-ons" (plural), because in the middle of this,
I thought that maybe I should just "Update" all my add-ons.
About 4 or 5 of them gave me the error above
("Firefox could not install the file at ..."),
just with a different URL each time.
This is far beyond my level of comprehension.
Try deleting these files from your profile:
extensions.cache
extensions.ini
extensions.rdf

Ah! Perfect! Magick! Thank you SO much.
I have the same problem described in the previous message. I am now
running firefox 3.0.1 on Windows XP SP3. Deleting the extension.cache,
extension.ini and extension.rdf seems useless for my firefox, and the
error 203 still pops up. I have also tried to create a new profile,
but the problem still cannot be fixed. Would somebody please tell me
how to get rid of the error 203?
Have you got Threatfire installed ? If so suspend it and all should be
OK
