Hi All,

Classic FM's VLC feed is down:
/usr/bin/vlc http://mediaweb.musicradio.com/Show.asx?StreamID=2

And I can not get Classic FM to work in
http://ukrp.musicradio.com/classicfm/live
FF 22 64 for Linux.

Can you et it to work and how?

Many thanks,
-T

Here it says: "Sadly, our broadcasting rights do not allow us to play to
locations outside the UK. If you are in the UK, please enter your
postcode ..."

I don't even get that far! I just get a big black box.

Hi Rebo,

You gave me an idea. The web link works perfectly in

Thank you!

Strange. Here after entering the required UK postcode Classic FM works
flawlessly.
Is there any add-on blocking your page?

I get only static from the asx feed. The second link (Classic FM)
works. It uses Flash.

I am not in the UK, and the Flash link is working. I am using the UK
English version of Firefox, if that makes any difference.

I don't think that the FF version has any influence. Do you use a UK
proxy (e.g. the anonymox addon)?

No, I am not using any proxy.

Whatever the particular reasons in your case are,
<http://www.politicalwrinkles.com/entertainment-music-sports/25953-uk-based-classicfm-co-uk-hall-fame-top-300-chart-2012-a.html#post425065>
gives some general advice to listeners outside the UK.
Otherwise they might listen to the South African version:

An asx is a Winamp feed to me. Doesn't work, though; Winamp can read the asx
but waits forever for the stream.

That works OK for me in Firefox *20*. No need to disable Adblock Plus or
Ghostery; Flashblock also enabled, so I have to click on Flashblock's "play"
button, but that's all.

This is weird. I cannot hear anything from the UK Classic FM today. It
was working the first time I tried it.

The South African version works fine.

This page may offer you some relief, and enlightenment -
http://jonathan.rawle.org/2012/04/06/classic-fm-streaming-update/

As I type this, Classic FM is playing nicely in VLC on Kubuntu 12.10 -
I'd rather not weigh down the system with FF just to get the music.

Hi Chris,

/usr/bin/vlc http://media-ice.musicradio.com/ClassicFMMP3

works perfectly. Thank you!

Funny, as I programmed this in, I was on hold for Kaspersky
tech support. The hold music was identical (one song only).
Took me a few seconds to figure it out. :-D

Maybe use the <TuneIn> app instead... works in Canada for me on both a
PC (Win7) and Android tablet with a 128kb MP3 stream.

However, dunno whether there's a Linux version.
