I've been using uBlock for around a month and have no complaints, but I
gather there's some controversy, and the creator of uBlock is offering
uBlock Origin. Any thoughts on whether it would be worthwhile switching
to uBlock Origin?

Thank you, Chris. I'll leave things as they are for now.

For me, I still use ABP. Is uBlock that much better?

FWIW, a Firefox bugfix just released should help with memory usage
issues with ABP.

Wow, it took them 14 years. :( So, did it really help? I hope SeaMonkey
v2.38 has this fix too.

I still get the Adblock Plus may be causing Firefox to run slowly
warning in Nightly 44.0a1. I am using Adblock Plus 2.6.11.3984-beta.

I switched from ADP to uBlock soon after uBlock became available and
still use it, most because I found it allowed pages to load much faster.
However recently I've noticed that in addition to blocking ads, it has
been blocking essential parts of legitimate web pages. For example,
last night I was attempting to check in on line for an airline flight
and after clicking on a "next page" button on the screen, I received an
error msg that I could not proceed unless I checked a check box agreeing
with the terms and agreements. I went back to the page and there was no
check box or terms and agreements statement to be found. I disabled
uBlock for that page and a substantial, additional part of the page
loaded, including the required info and check box. That is only one
example of several recent episodes. Thinking of switching back to ADP.

Having had a comparable impression of uBlock from the early stages on
and increasingly noticing an assorted number of loading problems of
late, I took up your suggestion and switched back to ABP. And at first
glance ABP in its interaction with FF(41.0) seems to be superior.

rebro pretended :
Your post convinced me to disable uBlock and to give ABP another try.
So far, so good.
