Could someone tell me where (parameter and/or file) the list of current
tabs is stored?

Earlier today my FF hung (possibly due to tab overload) and I had to
kill the process. When I restarted it, it (understandably) opened with
my 'Home Page'. I would like to try and retrieve the list of previous
tabs from a backup, if possible.

Thank you

Enter about:home in the address bar and click on the Restore Previous
Session icon under the Search box.

Thanks, but I don't seem to have a Restore Previous Session icon
(perhaps because I'm actually running Pale Moon?).

In any case, I don't necessarily want to restore the previous session (I
really had too many tabs open). I was hoping that I might be able to
open/inspect a backup file from a previous session in order to select
links I may want to follow up.

Alternative way to manage tabs is to use TAB MIX Plus addon,
that, aside of many other features,
has its own tab session management.

Thanks for your reply. I already have Tab Mix Plus installed, but I find
the options/choices a little overwhelming, to be honest.

In any case, I have now enabled Crash Recovery for future reference.

Still, my original question remains:
Where is the list of current tabs stored?

Thanks for your helpful reply and the reminder about the browsing
history, which should indeed enable me to 'recover' the places I want to
revisit.

The only thing I can think is to open them from History. If you have one.

sessionstore.js, and there maybe a backup of it named
sessionstore.bak. Since you've opened (and closed) Pale Moon after the
crash, those files may have been overwritten, so this may not work, but
I'd overwrite sessionstore.js with sessionstore.bak and see what
happens. (After making backups of those files, of course.) And if you
have no sessionstore.bak, I can't think of any way you might recover
the tabs.

You noted downthread that you're not actually using Firefox. It would
be greatly appreciated if you'd seek help among the Pale Moon community
first, and if no joy, bring the issue here next, along with what
suggestions from the Pale Moon folks you've already tried.

I think that the web site that I previously posted is to old.
You could open your session.js in a text editor and wade through it. It
has all of your session saved in plain text.

Is there one for SeaMonkey too since about: home didn't work in my
v2.26.1. :(

I don't like the idea of sharing with a web site remotely. Is there a
local version?

Thanks for your replies.

This is kind of water under the bridge now, but for future reference I
note that the format of the "session" files is a little unusual. It may
well be plain text, but the files seem to consist of a single long line.

Thanks for your helpful reply.

I realise that questions specifically relating to Pale Moon are, quite
rightly, frowned upon here, but my question/issue was generic, so I
assumed acceptable.

It's acceptable to me. It took 20 replies to get you the answer. Your
opened tabs are in sessionstore.js (and .bak) as Q said, but if you've
opened and closed the browser several times since, you've possibly lost
them by now. I use the SessionManager addOn to create automated backups
of my session, to counter just this problem (I keep MANY tabs opened at
all times).

Best Regards,
