Hi, I recently start at a new school and I am on campus housing. I do
not want my IT department nor other people on my network to be able to
see the websites I visit. Besides Proxies, how do I do something like
this, or is it not even possible?

If you are on their network, or using it, there is no means of blocking
where you go or visit.

Where you go, what you visit will be recorded in the logs, accessible to
their IT staff but is not public ally available information

To 'hide' or obscure where you go/what you visit from the logs you
perforce have to be off their network

You can build an ssl tunnel or vpn back to a given location off of their
network and surf, etc thru that connection. However don't be surprised if
and when they find out and care that they block that connection to that ip
address and shut you down.

I won't go into the details here its off topic but look for ssh/ssl
tunneling, vpn, etc.
