I don't know, but you might find the needed prefs in the code linked
from <https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=804745#c40>. In
addition to telemetry and crash reporting, there's now "Firefox Health
Report" to deal with.

Click the "Chose what I share" button, and deselect what you don't want
to share.

Alternately go to the Advanced Tab of preferences, select the Data
Choices tab and remove the check mark from "Enable Telemetry.

I don't see a Firefox Health Report in my Firefox 20.0.

You can disable telemetry from the about:config page. I changed 2 settings:
toolkit.telemetry.enabled = false
toolkit.telemetry.rejected = true

Sorry for the bum steer. I'm still using Fx 19, and I assumed the new
UI nag and the new reporting had landed on the same version.

I can't find a pref for turning off the nag. I'll look for one once I
get Fx 20.

Yes there is a FireFox Health Report open the preferences in any of the
Beta Channel versions. By the way the latest Beta out is 21. Just
updated day before yesterday.

You can also "Disable Telemetry" from the "about:telemetry" page.

Has anyone, but me, looked at what it collects? What should I be worried

I knew about about:config, but this was the first time I'd encountered
the above. How many of these about: pages are there, and how do we find
out about them?

Thanks! I'd never have thought of that. Quite pleasing bit of recursion!

I've read this entire thread and didn't find the solution. Have you
found any way to turn off that perpetual nag at bottom of the screen:
"Firefox automatically sends some data to Mozilla so that we can improve
your experience"...??? It's really annoying! My telemetry is supposedly
disabled but the nag continues. It's the nag I want to get rid of. I
don't want to send anything to Mozilla and I don't want to be reminded
about it!
Thanks.

Could you post a screen shot of what you are seeing? I don't see that nag.

Have you tried a new profile?

No, I can't post a screenshot immediately because I can't make it appear
on demand. Apparently it's random or caused by unknown factors. Do you
doubt that it happens? It's exactly as Thee Chicago Wolf [MVP]
described, so I'm confirming his observation. That should be sufficient.

No, I haven't tried a new profile and don't intend to do so. That would
be too much trouble. I've made various necessary tweaks to about:config
and other settings over many versions of FF and may not remember them
all nor how to reinstate them.

If that's pasted from prefs.js, taking out the extraneous quote
character may help.

Having spent some time looking, I can't find any other prefs that may
affect the nag. Sorry, and good luck.

Wolf has his prefs locked. Unless yours are locked too, you're not
dealing with the same issue he is, in which case I'd start a new thread
if I were you.

Creating a new profile does not affect the profile you prefer using.

I'm not a tech wizard and have no idea what you mean by prefs locked. It
happened to him, and it happened to me. That should be sufficient info.
The question remains: How do we kill this unwanted nag?

Maybe for you, but I have no idea how to do that, nor am I interested!
I'm only interested in killing the unwanted telemetry nag as explained
above.

I'm outraged! I just got the nag using my newly created Firefox 21.0b1
profile. Yesterday I opened Firefox several times after creating the
profile without seeing the nag.

Do you click the 'x' next to the 'Choose What I Share' button to dismiss
it, or activate the button and choose what you share?

I'll activate the button, choose, and see if I ever get the nag again.

I chose to enable then all.

That's what's changing in prefs.js when you click the bar:

user_pref("datareporting.policy.dataSubmissionPolicyAccepted", true);
user_pref("datareporting.policy.dataSubmissionPolicyAcceptedVersion", 1);
user_pref("datareporting.policy.dataSubmissionPolicyNotifiedTime", "1365509001307");
user_pref("datareporting.policy.dataSubmissionPolicyResponseTime", "1365517336671");
user_pref("datareporting.policy.dataSubmissionPolicyResponseType", "accepted-info-bar-dismissed");

You'll also find those entries in about:config, so you'll should be able to kill them off this way.

The second Google result for "firefox telemetry" explains what Telemetry
is for:
https://blog.mozilla.org/tglek/2011/09/20/firefox-7-telemetry-faster-startup/

The data I see in about:telemetry (since I have it enabled) is a test
for slow SQL statements, some info about my OS, CPU, and installed
drivers, and some performance data on how long some common operations
take (e.g. startup and shutdown).

I had the same issue...very annoying

try these steps

1. in url type about:config
2. click yes I will be carefull
3. look for the following:
datareporting.healthreport.service.firstRun click on it to change to false
datareporting.healthreport.service.firstRun click on it to change to false
4. restart browser

I notice the darn thing keeps re-appearing everytime I start the Browser and with the above it is now gone away for me.

hope this helps

You could have done it through the UI as shown in this picture:

Just in case this helps a future Google searcher, the current pref is:

lockPref("datareporting.policy.dataSubmissionPolicyBypassNotification", true);

The setting I used is datareporting.policy.dataSubmissionEnabled set to
false.
