I introduced Firefox to a newbie yesterday. The first indication of
trouble was the unintelligible characters in the setup dialog. Sure
enough, upon installation, the browser was using a Russian language font.

Easy enough... go into Tools/Options/Content... select English-US, click
Add (using my own copy of FF for reference), restart the browser.

Well, no luck. My attempts to add the English language font failed. Did
I miss something? How do I fix? Thanks, in advance.

By the way... the download path the in address bar of IE had "en-us" in
the path. IE was using English fonts. Why not FF?

Make sure you download from an English site, and that the file is En-US.

The computer was purchased a few weeks ago at Staples. The user, is from
Bulgaria (now living in the US), but the IE browser I used to download
FF used an English font. I went to www.mozilla.com and clicked the
download button. The download path had "en-US" in the path. I don't know
why it would not have installed an English version. I'm a little miffed...

Does the computer have the US set at the location of the computer?
Many people don't change the location (region) when they move, just the
clock.

I was working on the computer remotely. Everything else on the desktop
appeared to be in English. It is as though the installer picked up
something that suggested it should use the Russian font. I dunno.
