Can't start Firofox (1.5)

Hi,
after downloading IE tab extension, I cannot start firefox, even after
I uninstall & reinstall it.
What I see is that the firefox process is running with CPU usage of
~50% for long long time
but the browser window won't show, no matter how long I wait. Can
someone please help me?

Quit Firefox and stop the task in the task bar, then restart

did that many times - it doesn't help. I've read here that I should
delete
the profile directory then reinstall. But... where can I find that
directory?

ok, solved all issues by TOTALLY removing mozilla firefox both
from 'program files' and 'application data'

That's rather drastic. Did you at least try using Firefox safe mode?
[Start-->Programs-->Mozilla Firefox-->Mozilla Firefox(Safe Mode)]
