But Google seems to provide only Google.co.uk by default.
Using the 'Manage search engines' option does not help as it only allows
the addition of a selection from the options provided (which appears to
trigger a Javascript instruction).
The situation is far better with IE7 (Alas) because their 'Manage search
engines' menu also has a 'Create your own' process which has allowed me
to make Google.com my default without any problems.
It's a pity to have firefox for browsing bookmarks if one has to revert
to IE7 to do a search!
Does anyone know how to get round this, or Please Firefox, can WE also
have a create your own form?
P.S. By the way Mozilla, did you know that the Thunderbird spell-check
has just suggested that instead of Firefox, I should use Firebox or fire
fox? And that instead of Mozilla. I should use Godzilla? Dear oh dear!

open about:config
filter for search
change the entry:
browser.search.defaulturl so that the Value reads:
http://www.google.com/search?lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=
I took that from my config, so it may be enough to simply put
http://www.google.com/
