A warning for those who might want to try XMarks.
FF Sync works perfectly for me between two desktops and a laptop but
ever the inquisitive I like trying out new things.
So I installed XMarks, set up an account and started it running on the
three machines, adding a few new links and deleting some old ones to
try it out. What a disaster!!! I had multiple instances of some
links, some completely disappeared, some came back again, multiple
folders...its was mayhem.
Entirely my fault though, I had forgotten FF Sync was still active, so
as XMarks synced then FF re-synced, then XMarks re-synced it was all
going round in a never ending loop.
Luckily I had a backup of bookmarks done three days previously so I was
able to reinstall them once I had disabled XMarks and let FF sync
again.
You never learn if you don't try these things, but back ups, back ups,
back ups, before you do. :-)
