I have a regular 3Mbps/256Kb ADSL connection (and it's about the best
you get in Uruguay), while browsing some times you need to upload
files. Ok, so you do. The problem comes when you want to keep browsing
other sites while uploading files, you just can't. The file upload
"eats" all the upload bandwidth and you can't do a thing about it, so
uploading a video leaves you with no browsing for hours!

Is there any file.uploadspeedlimit option or something on
about:config? Any free add-on?, any setting I didn't see?
Can you implement that simple feature?

I found this:
http://www.uselessapplications.com/en/Application/FirefoxThrottle.aspx

But I can't vouch for it. But at least it's a start. If you do try
it please let us know how it works for you so others considering it
will have your feedback to help them decide if it's the right solution
for them.

Another solution that will cost you $29 US is NetLimiter -
http://www.netlimiter.com/
I found some feedback on that solution that for most part was very
positive. They apparently have a 30 day trial version. If it gives
you the control you need on your Internet connection it may be worth
the $29 US (assuming that $29 US is a reasonable price in your
country). In one comment a person was using Firefox Throttle as well
as the trial for this software and said that they were pleased with
Firefox Throttle but were looking at this solution because they needed
it for Chrome as well.

Throttle indicates it is not compatible with 3.6.13

HTTP, obviously, the most used of these. The one you use for most
sites that don't use a flash uploader. (And that's most of them).

@Netlimiter That limits the whole firefox' upload limit. I want to
limit X file upload limit, not every upload firefox has to do (GET
requests, etc)

@FXthrottle, it doesn't work in current alphas.

So, let me explain it in fewer letters.
I want to be able to browse around while uploading a file.

And while you're at it, it'd be good to be able to limit EACH
DOWNLOAD's download speed limit. (say, a scroll bar below each
download)
