Is anybody else encountering this problem?
Is v1.5.0.4 a "bad" version with a rollback to v1.5.0.3 necessary until
these problems are fixed in a new version?
Nope, you're the first one complaining about this

No.
When you open FF, do you place it where you want it, then close it and
reopen it? Does it stay, or not?
If not, then close FF, and using your file manager, locate the file
localstore.rdf within your profile. Once found, remove it. Now
restart FF. Does this work now?
To locate your profile, you can read this:
http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/edit#profile
but if you're using windows, then you must read this first:

OK. I'm still having dubious mixed feelings about this release.

Yes, I open FF, place & size it as desired, then close it and re-open it.
It does not preserve my settings and always opens in the upper left hand
corner of the desktop in a taller-than-wider portrait layout even though I
had positioned it middle of the desktop with a wider-than-taller landscape
layout.

Yes, TYVM, that seems to have corrected the problem. When FF did the
automatic upgrade & restarted itself, something must have gotten corrupted
in that file. All seems to be well now.
yepp - had this "feature" suddenly - can't say what caused it...
"dragged" the bottom right corner to full screen, and it "went away", as
the man said! Odd, odd!

No problems here; but try this:
Close Firefox.
Go to your profile folder[1].
Remove the file 'localstore.rdf'.

isn't that what I said, and the problem was solved! This has happened
with you many times Chris, especially with me. I'm curious, don't you
read the entire thread. Or maybe you've got me killfiled!?
