Starting a couple days ago, all of a sudden, when I try to access my
gmail account through Firefox, I can no longer get in to gmail. I can
get to the login page, but once I enter my user name and password, the
screen just sits there like it's trying to log in, but can't (the
wheel in the top right corner just keeps turning in a herky-jerky
fassion) - the browser window remains blank. But at the same time I
CAN access my personal google home page, but even trying to access my
gmail account through my home page doesn't work.

All other sites that I go to come up without any problems. And I can
get into gmail using IE, but I don't like IE. I like Firefox. Also,
if I sign into my gmail account with IE, I can see my mail, but I
can't get to my home page - it just loads the generic google home
page. So if I want to view my gmail, I have to use IE, and if I want
to view my home page I have to use Firefox. Which is annoying, to say
the least.

Anyone have any help??

I am having the same problem. I have only just changed to Firefox from
IE and can't access Googlemail: I get into my inbox and Firefox
decides to close. though I'm glad to see it's not just me, I would
love to know what to do about it!

Same thing for me. I've been using Firefox for months, but for the
past few days I can't get beyond the login page. Help!

DITTO!!! What gives? I still use a very old version of Netscape from
time to tme, and that is the ONLY way I can access my gmail account.

I've found if you have Add Block Plus that you have to disable it for
the gmail site. If not, it will not work.

I had this same problem for about 2 weeks. The funny thing is, it
only occurred on ONE of my computers. It didn't happen in Linux,
didn't happen in Windows, but it occurred on 1 (and only 1) of the 3
macs in my house. I'm not sure if this is related or not, but I went
into the preferences for Firefox and unchecked the box to "always
check to see that firefox is the default browser on startup". The
next time I signed into gmail it worked perfectly. I have tried a few
times since and have had no problems.

I had this problem after I installed a Logitech webcam and skype.
After doing a system restore -- no effect. I uninstalled the plug in
for Skype for FireFox and it works great. I'm using XP Media Center.

Hope this helps.

I too am experiencing this problem, but only on my work PC (XP). The
home mac running firefox seems ok. I did try to uncheck the options
re startup, but it didn't help.

That's not the case to me. With ABP disabled and Firefox still
crashes when I log into Gmail. This happens since a couple of weeks
ago.

FYI, it happens on all computers I use, home or work. All are Windows
XP based systems.

Likewise: firefox 2.00.14 on the mac cycles endlessly, whereas IE7
under
Windows XP is able to access gmail.
