I'm baffled about this site, http://www.stmarycathedralsf.org/
which simply will not display any images,
though they do show up in Opera,  or IE [{{shudder}}],
but no Mozilla genre browser.

Ironically,  right-click/view image on any one,  displays Error 404 - Page not found,
plus, and here's the rub: "We recommend you load the web site using Firefox".

Uh,  it is Firefox 2.0.0.4 that is not displaying the images!  [DOH!]

Admittedly, that page and its linked pages are a mess when it comes
to W3C validation, but even in Firefox Safe Mode, no images appear.

Picking an image at random,  then copy location,  gives, e.g.,
http://www.stmarycathedralsf.org/images%5Cceil-cross.jpg
and it appears that single slash character coded as %5C is the root of the problem for the images.
Changing it from %5C to / will display the single image in view image..

Is there an extention or other Firefox fix for this?

Hi,

<img border=0 width=380 height=492 id="_x0000_i1342"
src="images\ceil-cross.jpg" alt="Cathedral Interior">

IE will correct \ to / and display the images. Firefox is less forgiving
of HTML code errors. Have you tried sending an email to the webmaster
?

The following extension should help:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/426

Regards
Ian

On 19/06/2007 04:24, CET - what odd quirk of fate caused dAVEr to
generate the following:? :

There are also typos in the image names. For instance
http://www.stmarycathedralsf.org/images%5Cclergy-staff.jpg will load if
you change it to http://www.stmarycathedralsf.org/images/clergy-staff.jpg
