FF has been behaving pretty well on this WinXP Pro SP2 machine for quite
some time now.
Yesterday it updated itself to v 3.5.5 and things seem to have gone wrong
right away.
Now FF hangs on the save dialog box whether it is saving the page or any
graphic.
Also FF hangs whenever transitioning to media-rich sites as www.msnbc.com.
Scrolling pages with graphics on it now is achieved in slow and halting bits
and spuirts.
Disabled all add-ons - no change in behavior.
Uninstalled v3.5.5 and reinstalled v3.5.4 - surprisingly no change still.
Every time the ZCPU use climbs to 100%.
The hangs last from a random ten seconds to that many minutes or so.
I am at a loss to understand where the problem lies.
Regards and TIA for any insights.

Might want to try cleaning out your cache, temp files etc. FWIW, I use
CCleaner for this:

Thanks for the response. Actually I already run CCleaner 2.25 a few times
daily! Also, the cache folders for FF are included in its customized folder
list!
This really is a puzzler!
Regards.
