Greetings,

Subject asks it all: Is there a way to switch to Firefox ESR 52.x on Android?

I just switched back to Firefox ESR 52.x on all of our Linux systems via UbuntuZilla:

firefox-esr-mozilla-build 52.5.0esr-0ubuntu1 amd64 Mozilla Firefox ESR, official Mozilla build, packaged for Ubuntu by the Ubuntuzilla project.

So next up I would like to do the same for Android.

I am holding off upgrading beyond FF v56 via the PlayStore for now.

I am thankful,

There is no ESR for mobile.

Pitty.

And I suspect there is also not a way to elect from the PlayStore to keep installing the v56 and not the current latest, correct?

If you have installed 57, and you intend to install 56 from the
Mozilla site (URL above) you will probably need to uninstall 57
and delete all Firefix data first - though you could try it
without doing so.

I don't know if Android would try to overwrite the Moz 56 with the
app store 57, but you can mark it 'manual update' in app store. I
suggest you do that /before/ deleting 57.

OK, but I thought... oh... (that was for Mozilla extensions) that you could only get the installer to install from the official site (Play Store / Mozilla Extension gallery), not the raw download of
specific versions.

So is there a way to install a specific version of Android applications without having to install from the Google PlayStore and end up with the latest version?

Looks like I need to figure out which architecture my ZMoto Droid device is...

Per this page:
http://fieldguide.gizmodo.com/keep-specific-android-apps-from-updating-behind-your-ba-1683748216

told me go go to the AppStore, find the installed app, and within that I should find a setting to mark it 'manual update'. I did so for Firefox, do not see such a setting. Please advise.

In AppStore, display Firefox page, top right - 3 dots, unselect
auto-update.

I did that for Fx nightly and afterwards uninstalled it. Android
remembered when I reinstalled it later.

You need Android settings, security, unknown sources to install an
APK from Mozilla.

Hi. I stumbled upon your post in a Google search. I've been building Firefox ESR 52.x for Android from source. It's not too difficult to build it and it seems to run well. I can post my mozconfig file if you are interested.
