I have the same problem but with both IE and Firefox, so i tried
wiping everything and I loaded Ubuntu (linux=free) and i have the same
problem with Firefox on Ubuntu. I am going to load Opera and give that
a try and see what happens. I cant imagine that my NIC is stopping web
browsers but nothing else. I get an IP, etc from the DHCP server and
XP had downloaded some updates automatically, so i know that the NIC
is working. If i could find a wireless access point I would be able to
narrow this down little further. For anyone else that has this problem
with IE they should look for this KB article 902932, to register
some .dll files.
