For some time now, I've been experiencing problems with the
GoogleSharing add-on. Problems with the proxy server(s).

In April 2013 Albine promised to fix this:

I guess there is no point in keeping this add-on, so I've removed the
damn thing...

You can't use the extension from Addons. Uninstall that one and get the

new GoogleSharing directly from Abine. If you want to save the XPI file
you can't use Fx but you can by using IE. Use this link:
abine.com/googlesharing/download.php (If you just go there on IE, you
will not see a download box but instead an announcement at the top of
the page regarding googlesharing and IE. There is no download button so
use the link. The link is from a thread at dslreports about
GoogleSharing. If you don't save XPI files then just use the download
button at Abine on Fx).
The new one from Abine uses port 8080. I can't use it now because the
Proxomitron uses port 8080. The new GoogleSharing silently disables
Proxo even when GoogleSharing itself is disabled.
I know folks using the new GoogleSharing and they are happy with it but
they don't use the Proxomitron.
