I have a new computer. My bookmarks from the old computer, mostly in
folders, are in a Favorites folder. How can I get them to show up in
the Bookmarks menu?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

1.Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > File > Export.
2.Copy saved file in New Computer
3.Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > File > Import

in Firefox, they're called bookmarks. In IE they're called favorites.
In Firefox, the bookmarks are all stored in a file called
bookmarks.html, which is located in the FF profile. In IE, they are
stored in an area on your hard drive called the Favorites Folder.

To get the IE favorites into FF, the easiest way is to export the
bookmarks from IE [under File], and export it to an html file. Then
copy that file over to the new computer. Then using FF, click on
Bookmarks, Manage Bookmarks, then File, Import and import that File.

I tried your proceedure without apparent success. After trying to move
a number of bookmarks, I got a message that the import had been
successful and was complete. My bookmarks from IE had been imported!
The folder I am trying to import from is four layers deep. Could this
be the problem? Thanks, Mark

"Favorites" is the Internet Explorer name for bookmarks. If the
"bookmarks" are in the "Favorites folder" as you say, we're not talking
about moving Firefox bookmarks from one machine to another. Instead
we're talking about importing Internet Explorer Favorites from one
machine to a new machine's copy of Firefox.

So, copy the contents of the Favorites folder from the old machine into
the Favorites folder (under your Windows account) on the new machine.

Once there, in Firefox:
Open the Bookmark manager: Bookmarks -> Manage bookmarks
Import the files favorites - while in the bookmark manager:
File -> Import -> from Internet Explorer

when you are exporting your bookmarks from IE , it always been saved as .html file. Only thing you
have to do is , just import that .html file from FF in your new computer ( as gwtc already mentioned
). So if Import of bookmarks has been done successfully then you don't have to worry about anything.
