I have a bookmark in a folder. I want to move it to the beginning of
the folder. In "manage bookmarks" I drag it to the top. But this just
cause a shuffle of all the bookmarks in that folder and the one I
dragged generally stays in about the same spot. Now the whole order
for the folder is ruined.

What should I do?

Thanks.

hmmm..?

i think try this: be sure there are no up or down arrows in the column names
(‘name’, ‘location’,,,) one of those arrow indicates that sort of that column is in
effect.
if you see an arrow, re-click whichever column label has the arrow, and it should
disappear.

or, in View menu use the command, “unsorted’

now see if you can drag bookmarks where you want.

Sarah, try this - forget 'manage bookmarks', just go to the bookmark
folder as you would normally, click (and keep down the mouse) on the
bookmark you want to move, and just 'drag-and-drop' to the desired place.

If you only have a small handful (1-5 bookmarks) that you want at the beginning
and the rest all sorted, would suggest modifying the bookmark title by placing
a space in font (up to two spaces in front) because it is very easy to sort bookmarks.

I basically want all of my bookmarks sorted and with folders before bookmarks, the
only exceptions are a few folders in my personal bookmarks to appear first,
and one bookmark (bookmarklet) to appear in alphabetical order between
folders on my personal bookmarks.
the ,
and for most of them except for a few in my personal bookmarks .

Another possibility is to use more folders in your organization of bookmarks.

First, make sure (in the View menu for the Bookmark manager) that your
bookmarks are Unsorted. Then you ought to be able to reorder them by drag and
drop.

Best regards,
Tony.

Thanks everyone. You helped me realize I needed to pay attention to
which attributes were turned on for sorting. I unselected them and
left unsorted selected and now I can rearrange them as desired.

Thanks a lot.....
