Event/Appointment defaults to Quarter after the hour

If I click on the calendar with a view to setting up a new event or appointment, the new event window defaults to quarter after the hour rather than on the hour.

I know this is a small point but how can I fix this minor irritation.

What version of Thunderbird on what operating system?

In my 78.3.1 on Ubuntu Linux, if I go to Preferences > Calendar and
check the "Default Event and Task Length" setting, I see that mine is
set for 60 minutes.
