I've installed the first beta of Thunderbird 5 and
managed to install the newest Lightning beta, but it
won't work. The calendar opens, but I can't select
or change anything. Are there known problems with
the newest beta or do I have to install a specific
version?

Which version of Lightning are you using? I'm using TB 5 beta 1 with
Lightning version 1.0b4pre. It seems to be working (my calendar needs
are minimal).
It wasn't easy to find though.

Dont know which versions i tried ( the latest version availible from
official download pages ) but it didnt work at all, i couldnt see the events
and i couldnt modify/add anything.

then i solved it in outlook by typing : http://www.something.com(or
localhost,..)/davical/caldav.php/username/home and it worked perfectly, i
think you can also access this from the web.

So now do I dump the "Lightning version 1.0b4pre" version I have which
seems to work for the latest nightly version?

That link is for "Lightning version 1.0b4pre" which works with TB 5

Lightning for nightly builds from trunk (TB 3.4/6.0+)

Thanks, that seemed to do the trick. My Lightning version was 1.1pre
something, but the 1.0... is working perfectly.

Thanks. I'll stick with what I have then for awhile.

I just did the same on my MacBook Pro and it works flawlessly.

Can anyone point me toward a Lightning build that will install and run on TB 5b2 released today?

I've tried today's Lightning nightlies and they won't even install.

Thanks.

If you install the Add-On Compatibility Reporter extension, you may get
Lightning working until a new compatible build is released.
Try following these steps, compliments of WLS, from his post in
mozilla.support.thunderbird:

Thanks, Ann! That looks like exactly what I was hoping for... and it makes sense the Lightning project would have a more recent version available with the T5 release getting closer. I will give this a shot.

You're welcome but it is Mark Banner that deserves the credit as he was
the one who alerted us to the new version in the
mozilla.thunderbird.support newsgroup.
