You shoudl provide some more details about your configuration and used
webserver. Some ideas could be that you misconfigured your webserver,
for example wrong directory for "localhost", or that your webserver
simply doesn't have the rights to read the file. I would prefer the
first possibility because else Windows would throw something like
access denied.

Open cmd, change into your Bugzilla installation directory and run
index.cgi. If it executes and prints HTML output to the console this
should mean that your apache configuration is wrong, in thes case
provide the configuration file in general or just the part of your
virtual server for Bugzilla. If it doesn't print HTML output the
problem is that your system is not properly set up to execute
Perl/CGI-Scripts. You maybe did an error following the installation
guide for Windows, section "Configure CGI".

Hi,

I am having problems in the same stages. Thanks for the tip. I run index.cgi and got HTML printed on console. Then I went through the configuration chapter "2.2.4.1. Bugzilla using Apache" and tried mod_cgi, but no luck, still getting the same error after accessing bugzilla via localhost/bugzilla.

(mod_perl had problems to restart apache, so I didn't dig into it.)

Note: I've installed XAMPP on Win7 64 bit and trying to setup bugzilla 4.2.6 Release

Thanks in advance,

The you should provide the relevant parts of your httpd config, the
error is surely there.

Thanks for the reply.

I got some tips by Googling that I need to change the path of perl in each .cgi file (mentioned in 1st line).

Existing path: #!/usr/bin/perl -wT
New Path: #!C:/xampp/perl/bin/perl.exe -w

So far I've only replaced 1st line of index.cgi then run checksetup.pl. Now I can see different Errors.

Might be its possible to solve this problem by changing path in all the .cgi files. But it looks impossible for me to change manually all .cgi files of Bugzilla. Is there any automatic way to replace this 1st line of all the .cgi files ?

This is wrong, while it may fix the issue it only shows that your
configuration is incorrect as there shouldn't be a need to change the
paths. The fist line is a so called shebang line, which is mainly used
under shells of Posix like OS, not Windows. Windows determines what to
do with files mainly using their file extensions and registered
handlers.

You need to follow the docs, do what is written there and it will
work without changing each Bugzilla cgi file. The most important part
is Add-Handler in your httpd config and the sections about setting up
.cgi in your Windows registry.

You shouldn't need to, but simply use your Text Editor of choice, most
of them can search and replace text in files matching some regular
expression. TextPad, Notepad++, what ever. But again: You waste your
time doing so, as you would need to reapply the changes on each update
of Bugzilla again and again and again...

Please check your CGI file and make sure the perl path is proper e.g. #!/usr/bin/perl -wT to your perl path #!"c:\Perl64\bin\perl.exe"
