Hi guys,

I want to delete some users.

The problems i have are :

# One of those users is a 'tester' who has reported bugs - when i try
to delete him, it gave me following warnings

1 > User has reported 338 bugs. If you delete the user account, the
database records will be inconsistent, resulting in these bugs not
appearing in bug lists any more.

2 > User has made changes on bugs. If you delete the user account, the
bugs activity table in the database will be inconsistent, resulting in
these changes not showing up in bug activity logs any more.

3 > User has commented 424 times on bugs. If you delete the user
account, the comments table in the database will be inconsistent,
resulting in these comments not being visible any more.

# Other user is a 'Default assignee' - when i try to delete him, it
gave me following warnings

Confirm deletion of user
Login name:
Real name:
Group set:
Product responsibilities: Default Assignee for 'Product:Component'

You can't delete this user at this time because User has got
responsibilities for at least one product.

Deleting users is something I don't recommand.
You can disable this person's account by putting some text in the
"Disable text" field and this user will not be able to login to
Bugzilla but he will still be in the database and the data will
remain consistant.

Will this suffice?

as Emmanuel said, deleting users is not recommended. Disable the
account instead.

make somebody else the Default Assignee for the specified component.
Afterwards, when you retry to delete the user, you'll probably get
warnings along the lines of the ones you got for the first user. If
you do, you're probably better off disabling the account as well
instead of deleting it.

You may also want to rename the accounts to something more obviously
disabled.
--disable...@host.com. This way people will know that the user is
no longer involved.
