We have tried installing bugzilla on our VPS server.

However there seems to be a conflict with perl CGI settings and the settings needed to make bugzilla work.

In the error log, we get the error:
[Wed Jun 08 12:49:28 2011] [error] [client 190.80.97.207] Premature end of script headers: admin.cgi

and on the browser we get ERROR 500

Please advise.

Are there also other errors in the error log?

What happens if you do this at the command line in the Bugzilla directory:

perl -wT admin.cgi

I found a temporary work around, if i remove plesk configuration files from /etc/httpd/conf.d/ then bugzilla would work in the default document root.
However if i put back plesk configuration files and put Bugzilla back into the vhost directory, this error shows up again.
There seems to be come conflict between the plesk configuration files and Bugzilla.

When I do that command at the Bugzilla directory, this is what i get in red text:

You must log in before using this part of Bugzilla.

Okay. So you're running under Plesk? That means you're using suexec.
There's an option for that in localconfig. (There may also be an
suexec.log or something like that were your real errors are showing up.)
