I've installed Bugzilla, but when I try to navigate to it, I keep getting:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /bugzilla on this server.

Here's the pemissions:

/var/www
drwxrwxr-x. 2 root apache 4096 Jul 7 06:28 cgi-bin
drwxrwxr-x. 3 root apache 4096 Jul 14 04:22 error
drwxrwxr-x. 3 root apache 4096 Jul 24 13:04 html
drwxrwxr-x. 3 root apache 4096 Jul 23 12:20 icons

/var/www/html
drwxr-x---. 16 root apache 4096 Jul 24 13:06 bugzilla
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 14 Jul 24 13:04 index.html

index.html above resolves fine, but I can't seem to get access to the
bugzilla directory.

Here's some relevant pieces from httpd.conf:

User apache
Group apache

DocumentRoot "/var/www/html"

<Directory />
Options FollowSymLinks
AllowOverride None
</Directory>

<Directory "/var/www/html">
Options Indexes FollowSymLinks
AllowOverride None
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
</Directory>

<Directory "/var/www/html/bugzilla">
AllowOverride all
Options +Indexes +ExecCGI
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
</Directory>

Here's what's in error_log:
[Sun Jul 24 13:18:28 2011] [error] [client 192.168.11.25]
(13)Permission denied: access to /bugzilla denied

I imagine it's a permission problem, but I just can't figure it out.
The permissions look good to me! I've looked around and tried a few
of the suggestions I've found, but no luck...

Thanks,
Howard

You can't take no for an answer, support-bugzilla!

h> You don't have permission to access /bugzilla on this server.

Shouldn't you look at the web server's error log?
There should be details there about if it's a file permissions' or the
Allow/Deny rules' problem.

Turn off selinux/apparmor and try again.

I consulted the log and included a snip in the body of my email.  It
didn't help much.  Here it is again:

[Sun Jul 24 13:18:28 2011] [error] [client
192.168.11.25](13)Permission denied: access to /bugzilla denied

Try switching off SELinux, if that doesn't work, then set the webservergroup variable as 'apache' in 'localconfig' and run ./checksetup.pl again without any arguments/parameters.

Thanks guys. I edited /etc/selinux/config, changed SELINUX=enforcing
to SELINUX=permissive and rebooted. That allowed me to access the
bugzilla directoy and I was able to get my test index.html page to
resolve. I renamed that file as recommended when you run
./checksetup.pl and refreshed my browser, but all I see now is a
listing of the bugzilla directoy. What am I missing? I see index.cgi
but no index.html...

Thanks,
Howard

After installing 3.0.5 and restoring your backup you have to update
your 3.0.5 installation to 4.0.1 and afterwards can merge the
information from the old installation to the new one or whatever you
really try to achieve.

Hi

I am a newbie and I am facing the similar issue when trying to install Bugzilla.

I am using Bugzilla4.0.1 on CentOS5.7 using apache2 , Mysql5.0.77 AND PERL 5.8.8

When I try to access http://localhost:80/bugzilla ,I get the error 403: Fornidden

When I see the apache logs, I see this

(13)Permission denied: /usr/local/install/apache/htdocs/bugzilla/.htaccess pcfg_openfile: unable to check htaccess file, ensure it is readable

In httpd.conf I gave the values like these
<Directory "/usr/local/install/apache/cgi-bin">
AllowOverride None
Options None
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
#AddHandler cgi-script .cgi .pl
# Options ExecCGI
</Directory>

<Directory "/usr/local/install/apache/htdocs/bugzilla">
#AddHandler cgi-script .cgi .pl
# AddHandler cgi script cgi pl
AllowOverride All
Options +Indexes +ExecCGI
# DirectoryIndex index.cgi
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
</Directory>

Can anyone suggest me a solution, When I tried changing /etc/selinux/conf
I find the Selinux value as
SELINUX=disabled

So I thought nothing to change.

Thanks,
Rama
