Hello everybody, like everyone in this list, I hope, today I received my
invitation to the Summit 2013. When I saw the list of people, I saw some
names presents that doesn't participate in the community anymore and some
people that participate that wasn't invited.

I don't know what was the process to select the people, but, do we have a
way to show this problems and concerns? I know it could be strange to
uninivite people now, but seems unfair.

I think we read our minds each other, I had the very same concerns I
sent to council a few hours ago ;)

Regards.

I just got the invite too, and then saw the list of invitees and thought about the same thing that you guillermo, i saw a couple of names (only a few) of people invited to the Summit that are registered at mozillians.org but they arent active collaborators on their local communities, they just happened to have a mozillians account and just registered for the event when received the email... for what i think mozillians.org is a directory, but not an indicator for active volunteers or great collaborators.

I hope that there is a way to re-vote some of the invitees, because i would feel bad to see people that doesnt do nothing for mozilla having fun on the summit, while others that diligently collaborate arent there becuase they werent invited...

Not having examples, it's hard to have a specific opinion, but it could be
that they have been contributing in other ways, or maybe it's in
recognition for the work they did do. Also maybe the recognition of being
invited to the summit would help motivate them to be active again. Not all
areas of Mozilla have good ways of recognizing their volunteers yet, and
sometimes people could go a long time feeling unappreciated until getting
an invite like this.

Hey all,

Rodrigo from Brazil raised very similar concerns to the Council. Because it's late and i need to get some sleep, I'll just copy/paste my answer to him below.

I think that rather than focusing on those people who "should not" be invited, i think we should focus our energy on identifying those people who should have been invited and did not receive an invitation.

I think you should focus more on the event itself, on the unique opportunity to be meeting hundreds of other Mozillians from around the world at an event that promises to be a very exciting one.

I was disappointed to see a local contributor (in my area invited) was
missing off the list, but then learned he hadn't actually applied . Small
suggestion, that this may be the case for others who appear missing
(application was a first step).
In my opinion, a positive and valuable exercise moving forward - is
consider how to best bring the voices of your communities to the summit ,
especially those you value who cannot be there . Looking forward to a
memorable event.

Remember that there was also a selection committee and people were voted
for. I can't imagine anyone being invited simply because they have an
account on Mozillians. Surely they at least have made significant
contributions in the past, even if they are no longer active now.

Also for the people who aren't invited, check that they did join the
Summit2013 group on Mozillians. Were the inactive contributors selected
over and above the active ones or did the active ones not put themselves up
for an invite? Also how long have the active ones been active compared to
how long the inactive ones were?

Obviously any long time contributors who weren't invited should be
considered and brought to the attention of I think Reps Council is the best
bet. I'd also say anyone who has never been an active contributor should
also be brought up. For the people who have been great contributors in the
past but have started to move on, I think it's better to think of this as
making up for the summit that didn't happen while they were active. For the
newly active contributors there will be lots of events to come!
