Hi,

As per this year-old post: https://medium.com/@teabass/which-open-source-libraries-does-mozilla-depend-on-the-most-570903f94c1b

It seems Mozilla is a heavy user of Mocha.

I'm Mocha's *de facto* lead maintainer. I say that because I'm the only person contributing code regularly--this has been the case for some one now. Mocha is the most-depended-upon package in npm--by a wide margin. Mocha gains something like 1700 dependent public packages monthly

I would consider applying for a grant, but I'm not well-connected. If anyone at Mozilla would be interested in making an introduction, I'm happy to chat.

If there's no interest, I understand. There's no glory in testing. There's no greater good, higher purpose, nor groundbreaking innovation. It's unmarketable. And whether it's "critical digital infrastructure" or simply "nice to have" is up for debate. It's no OpenSSL.

That being said, If I could have my pick of jobs, it'd be working on Mocha full time. Without meaningful corporate support (its corp. sponsorship is $500/mo), that's not possible.

I can be contacted at bone...@boneskull.com for off-list correspondence.

You don't need to be that well-connected - you just need to find one
Mozillian who is using Mocha and is willing to be your champion. If you
know what software Mozilla is using that uses Mocha, emailing the
maintainers of those bits of software would be a good start.

We would love to have you apply.

The people you need to contact may well not be reading this list. So do
not take a lack of "Yes, I'm your person" responses to this message as
an indication that there's no-one in the Mozilla community who would help.

Hey Chris,

We use Mocha in Test Pilot, and I'd be happy to help you apply for the MOSS grant. I'll follow up with you off-list to coordinate.

Cheers,

Jared
