News from the MDN Dev Team: 2014-10-7

Work planned for this week: https://trello.com/b/p56Gwq46/mdndev-rocks

News
----

• Translated welcome emails have landed. Translated welcome emails will
be sent for locales that have a valid translation in verbatim. If you
want to help add a translation, have a look at
https://wiki.mozilla.org/L10n:Contribute and
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Localization/Localizing_with_Verbatim
for how to get started.

• Special thanks to Ruben Vereecken who contributed a fix for bugs
797845 and 1065965: "Disable save button if no edits have been made".

• Test suite updates! We refactored over 1500 lines of test code and
are investigating the Intern framework for automated testing of MDN's
UI. Ping davidwalsh in #mdndev if you would like to know more about our
test framework updates.

Two weeks ago we found a blocker bug with our auth framework,
http://bugzil.la/1057012. It's our only launch blocker, and we have a
fix for it in code review now. We need to add a few tests in order to
meet MDN's new code review guidelines, and those new tests are in code
review now, too: https://github.com/mozilla/kuma/pull/2808.

The feature will be ready for launch once the new tests have landed and
the MDN test suite passes.

Do we have recent stats on the success of the welcome emails? Early
results were very good, but also very preliminary.

Woot!

Is this deployed in production? I'm not seeing the new behavior as
described in the bug (or I don't understand it and therefore it needs
better embedded documentation).

Between this and the Github login, maybe we need clarification of what
"shipped" means.

I agree. I'll change how I report these going forward so that it is
clear exactly what state a "fixed" feature is in.
