Hi-

MDN's front page has three "tiles". Right now they are "Create Web Apps",
"Develop Firefox for Android", and "Build Firefox OS".

After seeing the great impact MDN has had on Developer Edition downloads,
we offered to put a Developer Edition tile in one of those slots (while
simultaneously removing dev edition promotions from the Soapbox area). I
attach a sample (it will be sized appropriately).

I'd like to take this opportunity to reconsider what we link to in those
slots. Let's identify two other critical destinations that we want to link
visitors to from the front page in 2015. With those identified, I'll file
some creative bugs for new tiles if needed.

Please discuss/suggest the MDN destinations you think are most
important/impactful/valuable to web developers! Here is a place for that:

There are some great suggestions in the etherpad[0]. Thanks everyone for
your input.

Here are the copy and tiles I propose for the next little while:

Left Tile: Learn Web Development (https://developer.mozilla.org/Learn)
Center Tile: Get the browser built for developers like you (
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/developer)
Right Tile: Build Open Web Apps (https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web)

I'm confident MDN will have more to announce before the year is over, so
we'll be able to revisit this again in 2015.

If there are no additional comments, I'll go ahead and file creative bugs
to get some new tiles for the left/right tiles and an engineering bug to
put them in place.

Can we review the middle wording. I read "get the browser built" as the
call to action and then the rest ...

We definitely can, and I can ask for help from our copywriting team if
warranted.

An experiment on MDN last year demonstrated that CTA including "developers
like you" was significantly more effective than other CTAs encouraging MDN
visitors to look at Firefox Aurora[0]. These are the best empirical
evaluations we have for phrasing this CTA, and they should inform our
decision; but there are probably different ways to include them.
Suggestions welcome!

I think just deleting "built" would avoid the garden-path parse [1] that
Stormy's referring to.

"Get the browser for developers like you"
