Hi all - Thanks for the great response on localizing these! Here are the files: http://www.sendspace.com/file/veci22

The fastest way to get them live would be to file a bug (will add all of this to the marketing guide):
* https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Websites (select Spread Firefox as the component, cc: ma...@mozilla.com & buch...@gmail.com).
* From there Alex Buchanan will check them into SFx images.
* I'll then get them into the Affiliates directory.

A few other things:

* Promotion: We're going to start promoting the affiliate buttons next week as a way to spread Fx - would be great if you could get them to me this week.

* Version: We're going to steer clear of version numbers for the next launch. We'll save a lot of time and energy this way having version-free buttons.

* Next launch: I'll be sure to get the PSDs out a month or so in advance of the next launch so no one has to scramble.

Thanks so much!

P.S. Please don't feel like you need to localize all of these buttons
-- they're are a lot. Here are some of the top performing sizes:

* 468x60
* 200x32
* 125x125
Thanks!

Hey all: One last thing. Please submit the localized buttons as PNG images vs. PSDs. Sarah has volunteered to help me load these images into SFx this week (it is a pretty slow, manual process) -- would love to take advantage of her time! Please send them this week if you can.

If you don't have an image editor nor have the skills to update the images directly (like me) we can find someone to help. Just send me the translated strings or even better file a bug:

The best yet
Get Firefox
Upgrade now
The browser that has it all
The best Firefox yet
Download now

Complete directions will make it on the Marketing Guide, but it's not cooperating with me right now!

Ok, maybe tomorrow (Friday) or in the weekend I will have the Spanish
translation of the buttons or at least the strings.

Mary,

If you need any help with converting these images into PNG, or any
other help, I'm at your disposal.

Hi Mary and all,

May be possible in the near future to have the buttons in .xcf format
or other open formats [1], since some contributors are GNU/Linux users?
As I know, Adobe Photoshop is a proprietary software and you need a
license to have it. GIMP [2] is free/open source software and available
for all operating systems (like Firefox ;) )!
Let me know if I can help.

Thanks in advance,
Alina Mierluș

I support this. A good example to follow when sharing material with
the whole community could be the MCS logo:
https://wiki.mozilla.org/MCS:Logo
Here you can see the different formats available:
http://hg.mozilla.org/webtools/mcs/file/tip/logo/

I guess they initially created it by using Adobe Illustrator, but they
provide other open and convenient formats as well, apart from the
original application one.
Some times, third-party programs can open proprietary file formats, in
this case .ai (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Illustrator_Artwork),
I think PSD is more tricky...
However, even in these cases, it is always better creators can ensure
and provide a proper inter-operable export, because they are the most
suitable people who can do it and warrant people reuse their work as
it is intended...

My 2 cents,

Hi all,
One open format at least is more than required. So, are we Open or not :)

Hey guys: I completely understand and will make sure we do this as de
facto going forward. The design community is still pretty hung up on
Adobe, but I am not using that as an excuse :)
I'll find someone to convert the current set and try and get them up
today/tomorrow.

Thanks so much!

The latest Gimp version can open up PSD-files fine.
It even contains the proper layers, so with Gimp you'r good to go.
Downside is that in Gimp text is a little difficult to get sharp,
but maybe that's just me.

Kind regards,

Ok, I filled a bug with the files: #542840

Sorry if there is something wrong, but is my first report in Bugzilla.

Regards,

PS: How I can obtain the buttons in other categories (100% organic software,
etc) for translations?

Thanks Eduardo!

I'll need to track down those images. I've just taken over Affiliates -- so I'll need to find them :)

thanks for PSD files. I just have small problem with file
120x240_edit.psd. There is no text layer so I cannot change text "UPDATE
NOW" in clear way. Is it possible to get some version where can we
change this text?

True. I tried to get rid of it, but cloning doesn't work well enough.
Mary, please find the file where we can strip off the text Upgrade now.
Thanks in advance!

Hey Pavel: To confirm, your buttons are up.

Are you still having a problem with the 120x240_edit?

Thanks!

Thanks for buttons. Yes, I still have a problem with 120x240_edit. There
is no text layer so I cannot translate text.

Just erase the text layer, and rewrite your own.

The layer is there, it's just not a text layer, but a normal one. Send me
the file and I'll erase it for you :)

Pavel,

You can find a PSD with UPGRADE NOW text layer here:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=542365

It is the only attachment uploaded by jamey.
