Please read http://blog.brinkhurstdesign.co.uk/2009/11/mozilla-music/
<http://blog.brinkhurstdesign.co.uk/2009/11/mozilla-music/> for the full
picture but here is a quick overview of the idea:

* We get all those who can play/compose music to create a piece of
music that shows the spirit of the Mozilla Community (5mins max
maybe).
* We get all those in the community who can write songs and poems
together to come up with an awesome to represent the enthusiasum
of the Mozilla Community.
* Get the entire community to sing and dance to the song with
Mozilla logos (Firefox, Thunderbird, etc...).
* Mash it all together with some lyrics and maybe some motion
graphics (in the music video).
* Release the song (after some editing) and see if it can make the
charts!

So to review we would have a song, written by, composed by, played by,
and sung by the Mozilla Community. Lets make history and be the first
software community to make a record that hits the charts!

I love it! This is an awesome idea and I think it would be great to
bring together the musically inclined folks in our community to work on
a Mozilla album...

Good luck FuzzyFox! Can't wait to see what you and all the musicians
out there come up with. :-)

This is going to be all them! I have very little music talent. However I
do listen to a lot of music so....

Agreed - I love this idea! Can't wait to hear how it turns out.

(fwiw, I'd suggest a song closer to 2-3 minutes than 5 minutes)

Gee, in the future I've got to spawn my ideas as soon as they come up ;)

This has been on my mind for quite some time and I even wanted to take
it a little further.
Let Pascal set up a bug for localizing the final lyrics and let some
local group play the song
and put it up on the internet. Lyrics and music shared in all openness
of course.

What would be really cool if this all was a runner up for a worldwide
"Open Aid( for the web)"
with concerts all over the world like Bob Geldof did in 1984 (is it
really that long ago?).
Maybe something for the launch of Firefox 4.0.

Best regards,
Wim

Great Idea for William

Perhaps we could do something analogous to 'The Planets' by Holst and
dedicate
a movement of music to an item of technology in the 'Mozilla Universe'

Jeff Robins @ Lullabot wrote this for Drupal :-)

I prefer the Hurdy Gurdy version myself ;-)

We actually did a Firefox music festival (with Shonen Knife!) in Japan
in 2007 alongside the Mozilla 24 project.
