Hi all,

I've been thinking that we need to add two new sub-modules to the
'Core' module: IndexedDB and Workers. Both these features are
currently handled as part of the DOM module, however the set of people
that knows the relevant code is fairly different. Additionally the DOM
module is already huge and both IndexedDB and Workers are pretty big
features that are both going to get bigger with time. We just got
bugzilla modules created for these two features too. I propose the
following owners/peers:

IndexedDB:
Owner: Jonas Sicking
Peers: Ben Turner, Kyle Huey

Workers:
Owner: Ben Turner
Peers: Blake Kaplan, Jonas Sicking

I've checked with all the above mentioned nominees that this is ok.
(I'm happy to have Ben Turner as owner of both, but he requested to
just own one of them)

I originally didn't send this email to the .governance list since the
"Creating A New Module" on [1] says otherwise. However after
advisement from Mitchell I'm sending this here too. We likely want to
update [1] to include mailing .governance, but I'll leave that for a
separate thread.

Any feedback on this from anyone?

Bueller? Bueller?

Were you looking for something more specific than "sold!" ;)

I don't actually know :-)

Either whatever is needed to go ahead and get the module created, or
someone speaking out against it. In this case I presume what's needed
is a go-ahead from one of the owners/peers of the module ownership
module.

Hi Jonas

what typically happens is that we wait a while and see if there are no
proposed modificaitions, or objections. When there are none, esp when
the proposal is from an experienced module owner familiar with the area,
we generally treat silence as boris suggested and move forward.

Let's say if there are no comments by Monday, go ahead and create them.
By "create" I mean add them to the wiki page, which I believe you can do.

Question: do you think I should make a bug for this, so we can track
when new modules are made through bugzilla? or is that just extra work?

Awesome, thanks!

I don't think we've had a problems with excessive modules being
created so far, so I don't think we need more means of tracking
really.

To close the loop here, I added the new modules to the wiki so we should be set.

Thanks everyone!
