According to this article on Bleeping Computer Microsoft Edge grew 1300%, overtaking Firefox.

Is this down to Firefox repeatedly annoying the hell out of their
user-base with changes nobody had expected nor wanted? I see FF and
Safari (which is missing from that chart) were slugging it out for
months before FF dipped and Safari hopped in September.
I wonder what the the remaining 7.4% uses. Brave? Vivaldi? IE?
Seamonkey!

Wells I say.

If the users turned off telemetry so Mozilla doesn't know what the users
are using in the browser.

Don't complain.

Firefox 89 will be an interesting release.

Have UI refreshes typically been received well by users? Not IME,
they're usually followed by a flurry of "what do I have to do to make it
the same as it used to be?" questions ...

Proton will fix everything I am sure :)

If you rely mostly on telemetry you are more than halfway there to loose touch
with your user base and that is one of the problems. And if you use telemetry
to justify ripping out parts power users rely on you are going even further,

I see.

Power users are the minority. No?

Who are these power users?  what exactly do they do with the browser or email client?  There is so much you can do in a browser or email client.

They are but there are also the ones usually asked what software to install or
fix the problems. So loose them and you loose much more. Just my 2 cents. ymmv

My bloviated meandering follows what Frank-Rainer Grahl graced us with
on 4/6/2021 11:50 AM:
As well as the evangelists and zealots who are the most needed group to
get others to use the product. Once a product looses them, their growth
subsides and their market share dwindles.
