Wanna have some fun? Want a new look to google search? Put the
following script into your userContent.css file. Restart
SM/FF/Net/whatever, then do a google search.

Cool! 8-) It gets some getting used to, but it is neat-o and fun!
Atleast to me it is.

Of course you can change the color coding to suit your own prefs.

The script is:

/* new look to Google */

@-moz-document url-prefix(http://www.google),
domain(google.com),
domain(google.com.tw),
domain("google.co.uk"),
domain("google.com.au"),
domain("google.ca"),
domain("google.de"),
domain("google.fr"),
domain("google.it"),
domain("google.es"),
domain("google.ie"),
domain("google.co.in"),
domain("google.ru"),
domain("google.co.th"),
domain("google.co.nz") {

I'm also attaching a userContent.css file so all you have to do is
either replace the one you have or copy the contents to the one you
have. I don't know if this attachment will be posted or not, but I'm
trying.

Groovy. Much better. Not seen any evidence wallpapering is permitted but if there's a way...

CSS, I've got too many projects/things to do, but Mmmmm...

'Firefox' just gets better.

You can go here (http://www.december.com/html/spec/color.html) to alter some of the colours.

e.g. Mad crazy pink for visited links. That's just me though.

I was having problems as well including with another
profile, then a new profile copied directly from this thread,
it was my own fault as I had included an additiona comment
with # in column 1 (which is invalid)
for a comment since I also had that form of comments
elsewhere in the file. Then I looked at the -example form of
userContent.css and saw they did not have that. Anyway
once that was removed it worked fine on my original
profile after converting the incorrect comments
to the /* ... */ form.

Just wish there were something as simple to remove the
third panel in the Google Groups -- using a bookmarklet
for that is nice, but not that convenient if you have to do
it all the time (I use it as a keyword shortcut and as such]
it wipes off the url from the location bar). That thread was

First, do you have more than one profile and if so did you add the CSS
in the /your_profile/chrome/ directory? And did you mistakenly add it to
userContent-example.css instead of userContent.css ??

Works here just fine in 2.0.0.1

what exactly are you trying? How are you trying it? Where are you
putting the file?

thanks, Jay - I'd done exactly that... in three profiles, and didn't

as Jay suggested, I had put your usercontent into the
usercontent-example files... my desktop explorer icons only showed the
abbreviated filename below the icon... silly me (DON'T repeat that)
didn't expand the filename to check, before editing!

Wow. I like it a lot!

But is there any way it could be enhanced so a click anywhere in each
box will go to the link, instead of having to get the mouse exactly on
the URL links Google displays? It would make aiming the mouse a lot easier.

Even better would be if the "cache" and other special links would still
work by clicking on them, yet clicking elsewhere in the box took you to
the main hit.

I have absolutely no idea if it could be done. Its an
interesting concept. I just stole it from somewhere else.
Besides, clicking anywhere doesn't work with normal google,
so why would it work with this. If you know about styles,
maybe you can create something that would. If you find out,
then let the rest of us know. Thanks

I *really* like being able to *select* the text.

I must be doing something wrong <gasp>

I have created a new file "in both
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\profile\chrome" and
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\chrome"
as neither had the userContent.css file and can see no difference.

I assume these are the correct locations as both had the example css.

Like most good folk tales, the information is passed person to person.

If you follow the links from when you first install Firefox
you would come upon "Tricks & Tips" along with a lot
http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/tips
of other articles of interest that do tell you where and
how to update things. Also if you restrict some of your web
searches to mozilla and mozillazine you can come
across of lot of concise information, though not in the
order you need to do things.

I to have a lot of such items on my webpage, so that I could set
up another computer, based on what I think they would want.
About the only other computers I've updated are two of my
brother's computers two years ago. I've had to redo my own stuff
though a few times because I didn't know about a few things that
could be done instead.
