You don't need a password to use Firefox. What are you talking about?

This question was only aimed at Firefox users who understand the Primary
Password feature. Have a nice day.

I was responding to anybody who has some intelligence to post a sensible question that explains what the actual problem is. There are no passwords requirements in Firefox. Now try again!

The dialogue still states it will only ask for the primary (aka master)
password once per session.

I recall similar behavior in the past.

Firefox would prompt for the master password when I visited various
sites which required login, before the page would open.

Message boards, etc. which remembered my login (didn't require login
every visit) would prompt before loading.

It appears to me the Moz devs have reduced the instances where Firefox
prompts for the master password.

Since 78.9.0esr I do not get a master pw prompt when visiting pw
protected message boards, etc..

When I log in to a webmail account (yahoo.com) I do get a prompt for
master password.

However, Firefox remembers that master password entry after I shut it
all down and go home.

Next day, open Firefox and log into webmail.
*No prompt for master password.*

If I remember to log out of webmail before shutting down, I'll get a
prompt next visit.

even I am worried why it prompting us for the password without any new window/ tab is being open...
Should we move out from firefox passwords

I don't store passwords in Firefox. I keep a list in a text file. Firefox now requires Windows Administrator password before you can view and edit the passwords and this to me is too much for Mitchell Baker to do. He/She is not a programmer and he or she has no business to ask me my Windows 10 password. He/she is just an ordinary trans person earning 4 million USD per year for doing absolutely nothing.

Good luck Mahem and look after yourself. Talibans are in charge of Afghanistan and Joe Biden takes orders from them and even begging them to allow safe passage for American soldiers. They have warned of "consequences" if Joe Biden doesn't pull out of Afghanistan by end of the month. Chinese are in charge of this world in 2021!

In your case it probably just a more recent FF which, by default, runs in
the background (so it can receive notifications).

> Should we move out from firefox passwords

Yes, absolute! When you do not understand what something is good for you
should absolutily get rid of it. In that direction I would like to
suggest you take a look into the "C:\Windows" folder and its subfolders, and
just delete everything you do not readily recognise. (And yes, thats a joke
(of sorts). Don't even try it)

Hint: do some googling to figure out what FF uses a "master password" for
and see if you than still think you should get rid of it. And if you do (I
doubt it) you than can at least *present us a reason* for why you think /we/
should consider "moving out" of it.

As for "good guy" ? I don't know if you noticed, but he "answered" a
question *that was never asked*.

Yes, he's right that you do not /need/ to have a "master password" set (in
my version of FF I can en/disable it on the tools -> options -> security
tab). But that was not the problem the OP presented, and as such he's an
idiot failing to even pass the (implicit) "do you understand the question"
test.

And whatdoyouknow, after he gets called out for that (by "Anthony R. Gold")
he squarely puts the blame for his uninformed-and-totally-missing-the-plank
"answer" onto the OP. Yes, thats right : *instead of asking the OP for a
bit more info* he just goes with /what he doesn't know/ and thinks the best
response is to call the OP stupid. Hows that for a prime example of "the
pot calling the kettle black".

IOW, be carefull with that "good guy". He's not a particulary good
role-model.
