Yesterday
* Had breakfast with the guys from Pusher (real-time message platform)
* Attended day 2 of GDC
o Ended up only going to a couple sessions as I was meeting people
or catching up with emails the rest of the time
o The Google talk on the bleeding edge of HTML5 games was balanced
and quite informative, I was impressed
+ They also used my Gamepad API demo (which I missed by about
1 minute)
+
http://robhawkes.github.com/gamepad-demo/
o Bumped into someone who has a tonne of experience with the game
industry in Asia and would love to work with us to bring the
Marketplace and games to that market, and vice versa
+ I will be following that up today
* Met up with the guy behind FTW, a company providing a universal game
identity service
o
http://www.getftw.com/
o Had a very fun discussion and have agreed to meet up in NYC
(where he's based) in a couple week to discuss this more and
show him B2G
o Turns out he's good friends with Chrissie Brodigen. Small world!
* Had lunch with a couple of guys at Twitter HQ
o Was cool seeing the place that Twitter is built but I was left
slightly underwhelmed (don't meet your heroes and all that)
o They have over 900 staff and are hiring many more a week -- I
couldn't work out what they needed 900 people for!
* Sent talk titles and abstracts to a few event organisers
* Had my talk at Web Directions Code in Melbourne this May fully
announced to the public
o
http://code12melb.webdirections.org/#day2
* Had dinner with Vik Bhatti from Visual.ly and chilled at their
offices to see their pre-release software
o
http://visual.ly
o It's a really nice data visualisation service that uses your
existing social data
o Public release is this Thursday/Friday
* Probably something else but I'm finding it hard to stop and reflect
at the moment; I'll do that next week
Today
* Attend day 3 of GDC (can't believe there is still 2 more full days
after this)
o Find Martin and liaise with him about plans for the rest of the week
o Grab a t-shirt from the Massively Fun team (the guys behind Word
Squared)
o Head by the Brass Monkey SDK booth
o Possibly check out some of the sessions but I'll likely be too busy
* Meet up with Barry and Stormy for lunch
* Drool over the B2G phones that Barry is bringing along and have a
quick hack around with them
* Set aside a chunk of time this afternoon to flesh out some Gladius
documentation content with Alan Kligman
* Potentially have dinner with another guy from the UK
o I swear I've met more UK peeps here than I do in the UK!
