I'm assuming this is just an academic discussion list now.
So, I'm running an open source module at Coventry University (UK), working
obviously on Mozilla things.
The format of my module is that the students first complete research and an
essay on Open Source Licensing, then that they work with the Mozilla
codebase, fixing student level bugs. Some have moved significantly beyond
this, some struggle, the usual mix.
The important aspect is that they have experience working with a 'live'
codebase.
Next year (October to December Semester) I plan to put my students into
groups, so each group can tackle bugs as a team effort.
I'm seeking to establish whether anyone else is doing this sort of
teaching, and whether they'd be interested in some collaboration.
Dr Carey Pridgeon
Lecturer, Coventry University.
