Fierfox seems unfit to display SVG. As far as I know support for SMIL
animations is completely absent. To make things worse: support for
large number of objects with opacity seems to be broken since Firfox
3.5.5. I tested this on 3 platforms (win32 Windows XP an Vista and
Suse Linux) all with several versions of the nightly buids of Firefox
(3.5.4 3.5.5 and 3.5.6). On both win32 versions http://vector-graphics.appspot.com/t010.html
will cause firefox 3.5.5 and 3.5.6 beta to have a broken display when
scrolling and then hang. On Linux the browser 'survives'but has a
weird display when scolling.

In shipped builds, yes. It'll be in the Firefox version after Firefox
3.6. You can get test builds with it right now if you want.

It looks like painting is being somewhat slow, but also that there's a
huge amount of memory being allocated/deallocated. At least on Mac.

If you want to help out, can you attach a zipped-up version of the page
that doesn't need to hit the network for any resources to the bug?
