Has anyone developed a script or plugin to allow us to use the Windows XP
Text to Speach engine with Mozilla? For us visually impaired it shure would
be nice.

Yes, there is a plug-in that allows you to use Microsoft Text-toSpeech
engines with Firefox. It is called "Speak-It," and it can be downloaded
from the Add-Ons section of the Mozilla.org website here:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3552

I have not used this particular plug-in myself, so I cannot vouch for how
well it works. However, back in the Firefox 1.0x days I did use an older
Firefox Microsoft TTS Engine plugin called "FoxyVoice," and it worked quite
well. Foxyvoice was abandoned by its author and is incompatible with
Firefox 2, however the new author of the Speak-It plugin claims that
Speak-It is just an upgraded version of FoxyVoice for Firefox 2. As a
result, I am assuming that Speak-It will work just as well for you as
FoxyVoice once did for me. I sincerely hope that this information helps you
out!
