Hey all,

After sound and BLE, and based on discussions with Hema and Preeti I
think there's another option for the initial setup that is even more
painless for the user: using NFC in p2p mode between the device and the
smartphone. There's no possibility of mis-pairing with NFC, so the setup
flow would really just be:
- put your phone on the device.
- choose the SSID, enter password.
- Hit Ok.
There seems to be a cordova plugin for NFC, but I haven't tried it yet.
We can prototype with cordova on the phone, and use a b2g device as a
"sensor device".

thoughts ?

Hello Fabrice,

NFC is a good alternative to sound and BLE. However IIRC the NFC chip that iPhones have is only used for Apple Pay. Last time I checked, there was no SDK for NFC on iOS, so I guess there isn't Cordova support for it either. This might be changing on iOS 10 though.

Cheers,

/ Fernando
