Testing in the iOS Simulator

I don’t know any of the RTL languages, so that makes testing a challenge sometimes. But there is something you can do. When you run Firefox for iOS in the Simulator, you can change to the “RTL Pseudolanguage”. This will result in the app running in English with RTL rules:

You can do this by going to Product -> Schemes -> Edit Scheme (Command-<) and then for the Run phase, under the Options tab set the Application Language to “RTL Pseudolanguage”.

I used to have to test RTL in FxOS using 2 phones - one set to Arabic, and another identical phone + build in english so I could follow along and know what I was clicking on :) The pseudo-locales[1] we had in FxOS were pretty good though at catching a lot of things, and might be portable/serve as inspiration
