Thunderbird 10.0.9 memory use

I don't know, but Thunderbird version 10.0.9 needs at start up more than
1Gb, after a short time it goes down to the level 0f about 500Mb. Is
this normal? Version 10.0.5 needs only half of that and I can't
pinpoint the cause why 10.0.9 needs that much.

Resending as I didn't see this arrive.

Thunderbird only uses a couple of hundred MBs here, all 10.x versions
though when I first started up 10 it did use over a GB of memory,
reindexed everything, then eventually came down.
Perhaps after backing up your profile, remove global-messages-db.sqlite
(400 MBs here) and places.sqlite and start TB to see if it helps.
It'll take quite a while for it to reindex your messages depending on
how many you have, you can watch the progress in the activity manager
located under Tools.

There is also something else which is strange, its going up gradually to
around 500Mb and after that its shooting straight with one jump to well
above the 1Gb within a blink of an eye. I doubt that its reading a file,
can't be that fast.

Have you tried starting up in safe mode (thunderbird.exe -safe-mode)?
Even 500 MBs seems excessive and all I can think of is something broken
in your profile.

You could try a different profile for testing purposes.

Options/Advanced. You should see the details of TB memory use next time
you start.

I switched off Dutch language pack, but even then I can't find where I
can put this, would be welcome to know where all that memory is needed for.

Tools --> Options, then at the top of the General tab there is an option
for the Thunderbird start page.

I have all the same errors except the dictionary one and the uncaught
exception in mail-offline.js. Obviously our port is not perfect :)

Do you regularly compact your mail folders? How big are your sent and
received files?
You could also delete all the *.msf files in your profile. They'll get
rebuilt when you access the folder.

Besides the message, what does this mean? In English: A script is
busy/running and doesn't react anymore. You can stop the script now or
you can go on and see if the script will be ended/fulfilled.

I get similar usually when the system is swapping. Sometimes it is a
hung script other times it's a big script or the script is not getting
enough CPU. Usually can be ignored after canceling.
Still seems like you have a problem with one of your sqlite3 files. Do
any look really big? Any ending with .corrupt?
There are add-ons to help look at the sqlite3 files and vacuum them,
also there is a QT app that I forget the name of

I've done that, but how do I get that in front so I can study it?

For me, it shows up in the lower right message window when I move to a
subfolder and don't have a message highlighted. It does seem to be hit
or miss whether it displays.
