Hi folks. This may be a beginners error so forgive me if I'm being daft.

I have an HTML image tag ... <img style="width: 904; height: 899;" src="file://///yrksol01/HaloData/Image/EDA3FC60-8082-4453-A702-266C917ABFA1.jpg" alt="Sample Image" id="myimage">

Windows7 x64 platform.
In Firefox 13.0.1 the image is rendered showing the alt text only.
In IE 9.0.8 the image renders correctly.
In Firebug 1.9.2, (running as an extention to the Firefox 13.0.1), hovering over the image tag in the Firebug pane shows a thumbnail of the image (so, the image is obviously accessible).

This is driving me up the wall - does anyone have any idea what could be occuring here? I've tried various and numerous alterations all to no avail so far. I've also tried disabling and removing Firebug but that hasn't resolved the issue either.

One thing to note is that the source code (asp.net MVC3 with c# and Razor) does close the image tag off with a backslash which seems to have been rendered out by the browsers.

Hoping this may have been resolved elsewhere but so far my internet searches for answers have been fruitless.

Regards, Richie, York, UK.

For security reasons, untrusted web pages are not allowed to link to
file:// URIs.

There was a thread on this two days ago titled "Why aren't local images
shown when referencing them on an online page?" in this very newsgroup.

OK, thanks Boris/Kyle. The file://// server is on our intranet and will only be accessed from within our intranet. Is there a setting/option in Firefox which allows me to set the server as a trusted resource? Seems odd that Internet Explorer and Firebug (alongside Firefox) think the resource is trusted but Firefox doesn't. I'm going offline now until Friday so please don't think I'm ignoring you :-)

Firebug doesn't think anything. _Firebug_ is trusted, so is allowed to
load anything.

For the rest, see

Gotcha. That article makes it perfectly clear. Thanks Boris.
