Notes from www.mozilla.org planning meeting on 3/5

Present: davidwboswell, sam, reed, cilias

- Planning

We discussed the new Big Picture document on the wiki. This is
intended to be an introduction for people who are interested in
learning more about what's going on with the site and it can also help
us think through our own plans for what we want to be doing.

- New Design

The design project is underway and we'll have the first set of
concepts to look at next week. There will also be a design lunch in
the Mountain View office as well as blog posts to give people an
opportunity to provide feedback. More specific details are on the
wiki at:

https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mozilla.org/Redesign

- Localization

Reed mentioned he could take a look at the issue with language
negotiation on the Manifesto pages over the weekend.

- Archiving

There has been a little bit of activity here, but not much. We're
still waiting on getting the automatic redirects set up before
resuming large scale archiving.

- Updating Content

Chris is working on revamping the Support pages. He no longer needs
the left hand nav for those pages, so we opened a bug to remove that
template. For other pages to update, we need to come up with a plan
since it isn't clear what to focus on next.

- Stats

We have access to stats for the site but haven't really been making
much use of them. We discussed possible stats to track to help with
our decision making, but didn't come up with a specific list.

- Staging Server

We started talking about the staging server but there were connection
problems and people got kicked off. Sam opened a bug to discuss some
of the specifics for how to configure the site on the staging server:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=481731

There will likely need to be more discussion about this, so we can
always set up another call soon or talk more over bugs or email to
sort things out.
