Hi,

Can anyone from the teams that started translating firefox 3 say how
much work is there to be done?

Are there a lot of changes in the UI strings? How many new strings are
there so far?

Thanks,
Novica

When I started translating Firefox 3 in November (using Mozilla
Translator and the glossary from Firefox 2.0.x) there were about one
thousand untranslated strings (if I remember well).

A lot of new strings are about security and certificates handling.

Francesco.

As far I remember around 1600 strings were changed/added since FX2.0.

This link might not stay permanently good, but I updated mk from the
branch to the trunk for Damjan, and an up-to-date and (IMHO) easy to
read compare-locales output is at

http://l10n.mozilla.org/buildbot/compare/linux-langpack/102

(I should really add a text for the missing strings there).

Missing strings for mk are 1433, 696 of those in added files.

Oh God, what a horror. Such terrible technical stuff.

Hi All,

The goal in a lot of the work was to try and make it more understandable for common users, so there is a big impact for users in getting good translation of those strings.

Oh, that's good. I thought e.g. of the file pipnss.properties with the
whole encryption stuff. At the moment I didn't start translating for FF
3 because I have still Win ME and can't test the translation. 1600 new
strings - that will be a lot of work.
